Applying for Your First Irish Passport

To initiate your Irish passport application, the following original documents are required for identity verification and eligibility confirmation:

• Identity Verification Form. (Provided to you when you apply on the website)
• Full Original Civil Birth Certificate (with parent(s) names).
• Original Civil Marriage or Partnership Certificate (if using a married name).
• Proof of Address (official government correspondence, utility bills, or bank statements).
• Proof of Name (similar to Proof of Address).
• Photographic Identification (government-issued ID or a certified copy of a driver’s licence).

Note: Proof of name and address must be submitted as separate documents. You can not use the same document to satisfy both of these requirements.

Documents for Your Irish-Born Parent

Additional documents are required for your Irish-born parent to verify their citizenship and your lineage:

• Their Full Original Civil Birth Certificate.
• If their name has changed (e.g., due to marriage or divorce), additional documents linking their identity to your birth certificate are necessary, such as an original civil marriage certificate or official documentation of name change.
