Application by a person aged 18 years and upwards who wishes to become an Irish Citizen by the registration process laid down in Section 27 of the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act, 1956, as amended.

Documentary Requirements for FBR Application

Note: Certificates in a language other than Irish or English must be accompanied by a certified translation.

1. Witness Requirements

Witness must be from approved list (doctor, teacher, etc.) and not a relative. Must sign and stamp two photos.

2. Application Submission

Write your application number on the envelope clearly.

3. Required Documents

  • Completed signed and witnessed form
  • Original civil birth and marriage certificates (if applicable)
  • Certified copy of ID
  • Two proofs of address
  • Four passport-sized photographs
  • Translations where required

4. Additional Documentation

For Irish citizen parent and Irish-born grandparent:

  • Birth, marriage, name change documents
  • Certified ID copy or civil death certificate
